The Communication Access course introduces learners to the barriers people may face when communicating and provides practical strategies for creating more inclusive interactions. Through real examples, videos, and interactive activities, you’ll explore the wide range of communication difficulties people experience and why inclusive communication matters.
You’ll learn about the Communication Access Symbol, your responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010, and how to make communication clearer in face-to-face, telephone, and written exchanges. A key focus is the TALK prompt—Time, Ask, Listen (and Look), Keep Trying—a simple, effective framework that helps ensure everyone feels respected, understood, and included.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to recognise communication barriers, apply inclusive communication standards, and use accessible language in everyday interactions. This training supports a more welcoming environment where everyone can communicate in the way that works best for them.
