Introduction to Safeguarding (INTROSG-01)

Description

At Smartbox, safeguarding is central to the organisation’s commitment to protecting the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of everyone it works with. This course provides a foundational introduction to safeguarding, ensuring a shared understanding of how to recognise and respond to potential risks of harm, abuse, or exploitation.

Safeguarding at Smartbox is a collective responsibility embedded across all roles and teams. Individuals may be more vulnerable due to disability, illness, age, or personal circumstances, making it essential to remain aware, observant, and proactive in maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

This course introduces key safeguarding principles, including important definitions, the different types of abuse, and the warning signs that may indicate someone is at risk. It also outlines Smartbox’s safeguarding structure, including the role of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), and explains the correct procedures for raising and reporting concerns.
